Savannah's Reflection on the Group 4 Project
I learned new things socially and academically during the group 4 Project. Academically I had already learned a few things about my part (that being through the media), though the project increased my knowledge of subjects such as cloning, genetically modified foods and animals, but I learn new parts of our subject like genetic modification and its purposes both negative and positive. An example would be a deeper look into how genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) would affect our economy, genetic pollution, and the pros and cons of the health aspects of GMO’s. My part in the group 4 Project I especially enjoyed (that being health aspects of genetic engineering) to do the fact that I hope to go into the medical field and possibly become a radiologist. Socially there were some setbacks but there were also a lot of positives. Some setbacks involved some group members head butting with others whether it being over ideas or opinions, although others may have been considered harsh or over controlling in some of their opinions. Some positives would be that everyone did their assigned task for the group four projects and attempted to work with each other despite opposite opinions and differences. I’m glad the entire group for projects succeeded in teaching their peers about global problems and their pros and cons and enlightening all of us. Some struggles I personally faced would be “stage fright” and procrastination. I overcame these struggles by practicing my timing speaking clearly although fighting with procrastination is difficult for me though I did finish my part to the best of my abilities and knowledge. Some advice for future students that have to compete with the group 4 project would be for them to select a topic that has many aspects to be explored and so that all group members can choose a desired part to study whether it be religious, political, medical, physics, or economic. Also despite your differences with other group members focus on your topic at hand and compromise.
